LONDON — The 70-year-old man identified as the suspect in the shooting death Monday of a Huron OPP constable is a retired logger whose marriage recently fell apart, a work colleague says. Police Tuesday identified the suspect as Almaguin Highlands resident Fred Preston.

A 21-year-old man accused of taking part in beating a high school student last week has been released on bail to live with his mother in North Bay. Robert Vincent Smith is charged with committing the assault while he was on probation and was released after his bail hearing on Tuesday.
